Skill Level Definitions

Beyond Beginner:
Comfortable on green runs. Can wedge to a complete stop
and make wedge turns. Beginning to skid skis parallel
to finish turn. Can get self up from a fall.

Intermediate:
Comfortable on all types of blue runs. Pole plant often unreliable
or not useful. Can perform shorter radius turns in the fall line.
Learning to carve longer radius turns.

Advanced Intermediate:
Skis steeper more challenging blue runs, can link short radius turns in
the fall line with good edge grip, can carve the finish of a long radius turn.
Likes to try groomed black runs. Still working on effective pole plant.

Advanced:
Comfortable on groomed black runs and can link short radius turns in
gentle bumps fairly well. Likes to try steep black diamond runs.
Utilizes strong effective pole plant on steeper terrain with
proper timing and placement.

Aspiring Expert:
Varies skills to match demands of the terrain. Fairly proficient in carving short and long radius turns on black groomers. Likes black diamond mountain terrain. Comfortable at higher speeds, may have had some instructing or
ski patrol experience.

Students are grouped by ability level to ensure well matched classes.
